Newhaven Celebrate a Debut Juvenile Winner

With the two juvenile events in Sydney at Rosehill on Saturday being stakes races, Gai Waterhouse elected to send well-bred Encosta de Lago filly English to Kembla Grange to make her debut.

The Newhaven Park bred and owned filly made light work of the assignment coasting home to win the 1000 metre maiden by three and a half lengths as a short priced favourite.

A half-sister to promising winner Puzzle, English is the second foal from dual Group II winning Anabaa (USA) mare Court, who comes from the family of outstanding racehorse and sire Grand Lodge (USA).

Entered for the Golden Slipper, English looks a lovely filly for the future.

Her dam Court missed in 2013 so had no foal in 2014, but was covered by champion sire Redoute's Choice last year.
