The stud season at Bombora Downs is always a busy and exciting time of the year with mares coming and going, vet work 3 days a week and around 100 plus foals to be delivered and of course the putting in place of next year's foal crop.The rest of the year used to be known as the off season but with the ever growing need for the other services Bombora offers means we stay busy all year round.
Sale preparation, branding, dna and microchipping, education and weaning of foals and breaking in of older horses keeps us pretty occupied. The handling and growing out of young horses is enormously satisfying and is a role we are playing for more and more local breeders.
Whatever your requirements we are happy to tailor a program to suite.
Apart from being a beautiful part of the world the Mornington Peninsula has some of Australia's most fertile soil a mild climate and reliable rains. Following BIO dynamic farming principles, building soil carbon and biology levels with no synthetic fertilizers used. Capitalizing on the natural strengths of the region pastures on Bombora Downs are enormously productive and are a highly beneficial component of our horses' diets.
AGISTMENT
Seasonal or year round for all ages. Safe fencing for both colts and fillies, we specialise in the growing out of young horses. Well managed paddocks provide year round accommodation where your brood mare can thrive. Short-term agistment also welcome.
SPELLING
Close to both Cranbourne & Mornington training facilities, plus just an hour from the city training centres, our caring environment rejuvenates the racing horse. Plus you or your trainer can visit at any time to check on progress.
TRANSPORT
Being on the Mornington Peninsula we can provide transport to the main training facilities at Mornington and Cranbourne, plus to the many Pre-training facilities available in the area.
BREEDING
Call us to discuss your breeding requirements. We can help tailor your requirements to any one of our Stallions or another stallion of your choice. Walk-on?s from the farm can be arranged to outside Stallions.
YEARLING PREP
This is 8 weeks of individual preparation followed by a first class presentation at all Melbourne sales, with experienced handlers to help sell your yearling. Pre sales promotion and Sirecam listings, x-rays and scoping on request..
