Luckless when beaten as an odd-on favourite at his most recent start, Puissance De Lune (IRE) turned Wednesday's $250,000 Listed Jayco Bendigo Cup (2400m) into a one act affair, much to the delight of the sponsor.
Given a positive ride by Glen Boss from an outside barrier, Puissance De Lune (IRE) raced on the outside of the surprise leader Fiumicino before Boss let the reins out a notch 400 metres from home and turned the race into a procession. When the judge called a holt the son of Shamardal had put 8 lengths on his nearest pursuer Practiced (Encosta de Lago) who nosed out the brave Fiumicino (Zabeel) for second.
Owned by Jayco supremo Gerry Ryan and trained by Darren Weir, Puissance De Lune moved his overall record to 5 wins and 3 seconds from 11 starts for earnings of $244,195.
"At Warrnambool we saw what we wanted to see and it was onwards and upwards from there," Weir said.

"This is good for Gerry, he's been a huge supporter of the stable for a long time. Him and Rob(Roulston) bought the horse and they said to try and get him ready for the Bendigo Cup. Normally things don't go right, but today it did.
"Today was going to decide whether we push on to the Queen Elizabeth or not." "I was a little bit worried about whether he'd run a trip or not but he ran it out well today so I dare say we'll be heading that way."

of Melbourne Cup hero Americain, Ryan said bloodstock agent Rob Roulston had
purchased Puissance De Lune for around $100,000.
The 5yo entire had finished second to Military Bowl in a conditions race over 10 1/2-furlongs at Toulouse. The winner captured a Listed race at his next start.
"We stick with Rob, he certainly finds us some very good horses and we were very excited to pick him up and he was a reasonably good bargain, 100,000 so it was a great buy," Ryan said.
Purchased by Roulston for 90,000 euros at the ARQANA Arc Sale,the Irish-bred Puissance De Lune has two former shuttle stallions on either side
of his pedigree. The 5yo grey entire is a son of European Champion two-year-old and champion miler Shamardal (pictured) .
He is out of Princess Serena (Unbridled's Song), a half-sister to Grade 2 winner and Grade 1 placed Double Partner (Rock Hard Ten) out of Serena's Sister, who, as the name suggests, is a sister to the champion Serena's Song winner of 18 races from two to four-years-old including 11 Group 1's.
Serena's Song is the dam of Sophisisticat who won the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and three other stakes-winners.
