In
Cox Plate week, it's fitting that the memory of 2007 winner El Segundo would be
recalled at Kyneton today where his half-sister Palos de Lago cast off maiden
status.
A four year-old daughter of Encosta de Lago, Palos de Lago produced a good
staying performance to win the 1887 metre maiden by two lengths at her fourth
start.
Prepared by Colin Little, as was her famous older brother, Palos de Lago has
been given all the time in the world to mature and only had her first race start
on August 2 this year.
Palos de Lago is raced by several of the same people that were involved with El
Segundo(pictured) , who won 12 races and $3.9 million with highlight Group I wins in the
MVRC Cox Plate, MRC Yalumba Stakes, Underwood Stakes and C.F. Orr Stakes.
She is the fifth winner from six to race for Group III winner Palos Verdes.
