Magnier is one of the most famous names in global breeding circles and
there is a Magnus 3YO with the same name, poised to carve a niche of his own, following
a stirring win at Ballarat yesterday.
Bred and part-owned by Robert Crabtree (who also bred and owned his sire),
Magnier jumped straight to the lead and powered to the line to score as an odds
on favourite should.
Magnier –(pictured Racepix Vic) out of the Zabeel mare Zergo – has now won two from four and is well
placed to make his mark during the spring carnival and beyond: certainly a tilt
at stakes glory is in the offing.
Magnus, meanwhile, remains very popular with broodmare owners, particularly
after capturing the Victorian First Season Sires' title in 2011/12 and boasting
a superior stakes horses to runners ratio among peers.
Furthermore, it appears that Magnier won't be taking on the spring alone with a
couple of encouraging trial performances by Magnus progeny in the past week.
Magnus stands at Eliza Park in conjunction with Yallambee Stud.
