When it comes to the Makybe Diva family anything
is possible.
On the morning of Friday 21st September MAKYBE owners Tony and
Deslee Santic welcomed a full sister to their triple Melbourne Cup winning mare
Makybe Diva.
The brown filly by Desert King (IRE), weighing in at 50kg has "a beautiful head and is all quality" according to Peter O'Brien from Coolmore.
The filly is also branded
with a star on her forehead which has become a trademark from dam Tugela (USA) (pictured with foal).
Tugela has been an outstanding producer of group winners and black type
performers which also include Valkyrie Diva (by Jade Robbery), Musket (Redoute's
Choice) and Shadowofexcellence (Redoute's Choice).
Whilst MAKYBE is a commercial breeding operation and offers all bloodstock for
sale, this filly will be retained by the Santic's to race themselves.
Tony was elated when contacted by Coolmore's Peter O'Brien last Friday asking
him "What did you want, a colt or a filly?".
"A filly!"
"You got it," replied Peter
Tugela will be returning to Darley stallion, Street Cry (IRE) this coming season.
