Brilliant
young Arrowfield sires Not A Single
Doubt and Charge
Forward combined to quinella the 2YO race over 880 metres at Ruakaka
in New Zealand on Saturday.
Doubtless (Not A Single Doubt(pictured) -Miss Elusive by Elusive Quality) was a most
impressive winner for his owner-breeders, and co-trainer, Tony, Vicky &
Wayne Pike, jumping quickly to the front from the widest gate and keeping up a
strong gallop to score by 5.5 lengths in 48.91 seconds.
The best chaser was Zaragoza (Charge Forward-Portrayal by Flying Spur), with
Desert View third, ahead of Almansa (also by Charge Forward, from Miss Victoria
by Viscount).
The Pikes bought Miss Elusive in foal to Not A Single Doubt for $16,000 from
the Bellerive Stud draft at the 2010 Inglis Weanling & Broodmare Sale.
The resulting colt delighted the Pikes who planned to sell him under their
Longlands Stud banner at the 2012 New Zealand Premier Sale. A minor setback
forced his late withdrawal and retention for development as a racehorse, with a
very satisfying early reward today.
Miss Elusive, a city-placed winner, is a daughter of the fine performer Miss
Jugah who counted the
VATC Mannerism S. G3 among her 10 wins. Doubtless is her first foal and the
49th 2YO winner for Not A Single Doubt.
There was another Arrowfield connection with Pike family success five races
later at Ruakaka when the Tony Pike & Mark Donoghue- trained Sacred Falls
(O'Reilly-Iguazu's Girl by Redoute's Choice) to win the Westbury Stud Northland
Challenge S. LR. Sacred Falls is the 11th stakeswinner for Redoute's Choice as
a broodmare sire.
Zaragosa and Almansa were both bred by the Arrowfield & Planette
partnership, and sold under the Arrowfield banner at the 2012 Magic Millions
Gold Coast Sale for $37,500 and $55,000 respectively.
The purchaser of both colts was Matamata trainer Peter McKay, who races the
pair in partnership with his wife Kim and major stable client Trevor Luke.
They are the first graduates of the 2012 Arrowfield & Bellerive yearling
sale consignments to race.
Not A Single Doubt & Charge Forward, with 41 stakes performers between
them, both stand at Arrowfield this season at $24,750 inc. GST.
