Scoring
an impressive debut win for the Liam Birchley stable at Doomben on Wednesday
was Haitchque, a $30,000 purchase for Aquanita Racing from the Torryburn Stud
draft at the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale Session II.
Given time to mature, the four year-old Dehere (USA) gelding repaid the faith
of connections with a stylish two and a half length win in the 1110 metre
maiden.
He cruised along in second place outside the leader for Chris Munch and then
cruised home to win as he pleased.
Bred by Torryburn Stud, Haitchque is the second and final foal of ill-fated
Storm and Tempest, a Thunder Gulch (USA) daughter of stakes-winner Luminia.
Torryburn Stud have had a run of recent winners including Red Hot Chillies, Transporter and Memphis Mafia.
