colt from the first crop of champion racehorse Sea The Stars from Group
1 winner Alpine Rose has
created fireworks during the second session of the ARQANA Deauville Yearling Sale
overnight.
He was purchased for
€1.2 million byNicolas de Watrigant of Mandore Agency. de
Watrigant acting on behalf of Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Bidding opened at €100,000 for the handsomegrey (pictured) with
interest from David
Redvers, John Ferguson
and Angus Gold, before de
Watrigantcame into secure the colt.
"We thought he'd make a million but we really wanted this colt as we
missed out on the[€1.1 million] Galileo filly yesterday," he told Racing Post.
"He was definitely the best colt in the sale and he's an extraordinary
horse with a good temperament - he ticked all the boxes.
"He'll stay in France and we hope he has some of the quality as his sire
and dam. If he does, he will make a lovely stallion prospect."
