Haradasun Winner Impresses Gai
Tara Madgwick - Wednesday, 15 August 2012

Promising young sire Haradasun posted an eye-catching winner at Canterbury on Wednesday when the Gai Waterhouse trained Jordan snatched a thrilling victory.

A solid improver at each of his two runs back from a spell, Jordan stripped fit and ready to rumble for this assignment, producing a slick change of gear over the final furlong to run down Clever Boy in the shadows of the post.

Clever Boy looked a certain winner half way down the straight, so Jordan did a fine job to catch him and take the 1550 metre event by half a neck.

"Jordan just kept finding the line," said Gai Waterhouse.

"That's what I like about these Haradasun's they have a lovely turn of foot."

Winning rider Tommy Berry was also impressed with Jordan.

"He's very raw, but he really knuckled down over the last 100 metres," he said.

A homebred for Frank Tagg's Arch of Gold Syndicate, Jordan is a half-brother to Group III placed Kiloton and is the fourth winner for Last Tycoon (IRE) mare Mystifying, who also has a two year-old colt and yearling colt, both by Haradasun, who was bred and raced with much success by Mr Tagg.

Jordan is the first winner this season for former champion three year-old Haradasun, who is the sire of another highly promising three year-old in the Gai Waterhouse stable in Kabayan.

Runner-up in the Group I BRC TJ Smith Stakes in the winter, Kabayan trialled encouragingly at Randwick on Monday and has been entered for the Caulfield Guineas and Cox Plate.

Haradasun (pictured) stands at Coolmore at a fee of $16,500.
