First Stakes Winner for Big Brown
Mark Smith - Sunday, 5 August 2012

Injury has prevented the champion Big Brown from shuttling to Vinery Stud this year, which is looking more disappointing after he was represented with his first black-type winner when Brown Almighty romped to a two and three-quarter length victory in the $50,000 Sunny's Halo Stakes at Louisiana Downs on Saturday.

It was the second win from as many starts for the chestnut colt who was an impressive debut winner at Arlington Park on July 14.

A three-time veteran of the sales ring, Brown Almighty was last sold for $22,000 at the OBS April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale earlier this year.

Kentucky Derby hero Big Brown (pictured) has made a smart start to his stud career with four winners, including a stakes-winner early in the season.
