Milestones All Round as Ready Rips Home
Breednet - Monday, 9 July 2012

The seasonal milestones were flowing over the weekend for two industry leaders thanks to win of quality sprinter Ready to Rip in the listed Sprinters Final (1200m) at Flemington.

The four-year-old gelded son of More Than Ready broke through at his first Victorian run for new trainer Peter Moody - notching win number 200 for the Caulfield based horseman.

And the win helped push the Magic Millions graduate win count for the season past 6,000 wins for the period since August 1.

Ready to Rip (pictured) has always been held in high regard - having commenced his career in Brisbane with Andrew Williamson. He won four races and was placed another four times during an eye catching start to his career.

Racing for the first time since a second placing to Steel Zip in the listed Sunshine Coast Cup, Ready to Rip raced on the speed throughout and showed great tenacity to hold out the challengers and win

"We came here very open minded even though the market suggested otherwise."

"He's a tradesman. He hasn't shown us anything brilliant at home. He goes about his work professionally and he's done a good job first time up the straight here."

Bred by Gerry Harvey, Ready to Rip was purchased by former Chief De Beers owner Barry Greenup for $55,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Now a six time winner from just 18 starts, Ready to Rip has earned his connections over $310,000.

He is one of two stakes performers and six winners produced by the once raced Danehill mare Lady Langham.

From the family of Kenconcarne, Elliotto, Ego and Forehand, Lady Langham has also produced the Norman Robinson Stakes placegetter and subsequent Hong Kong winner Sir Lago - a winner of over $210,000.

Saturday's listed sprint feature from Flemington is one of over 6,000 races won by Magic Millions graduates this season. Some 4,889 races in Australia and 1,124 abroad make up the outstanding haul of victories.
