Darley Stud's homebred Soledad (Commands) made it two Sydney wins in succession when he ploughed through the mud in a ratings race at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday however there was a bigger payday for Commands at Eagle Farm with the 2yo colt Saluter in the $250,000 QTIS 600 Robert Bax & Associates Plate (1400m).
The Jason McLachlan-trained colt was making his ninth start of the season, the last five of which have been in stakes races.
Sitting off
the pace set by Discreet, Damian Browne made his move well into the straight on
Saluter and he came away to defeat Discreet (Show A Heart) by one and a quarter
lengths with Caliente (Sequalo) two and a quarter lengths back in third.
McLachlan purchased Saluter for $80,000 from the Epic Farm draft at the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale.
He is the first foal of the Brisbane winning Show a Heart mare Rosekay Heart a half-sister to the stakes-placed Nellie Got There (Brahms) from the family of the Queensland legend Vo Rogue.
Rosecay Heart has a yearling colt by Real Saga that sold for $90,000 but has missed to Danzero and sebring in the past two seasons.
