Scarf Breaks Through in England
Mark Smith - Friday, 6 July 2012

Lonhro gelding Scarf opened his British account in style at Newbury on Thursday when he romped home by four and a half lengths in a 7-furlong conditions event.

Ridden by Silvestre De Sousa for trainer Saeed bin Suroor, Scarf defeated Silverheels (Verglas) with Mia's Boy (Pivotal) a further ten lengths back in third.

A rare grey son of last season's champion stallion Lonhro, Scarf won seven of his 15 starts in Australia for darley's retained trainer Peter Snowden including the Listed Winter Stakes.

At his Australian finale, Scarf won a 1500 metre handicap at Sandown. Sent to Dubai he made two starts the best of which was a first up second at Meydan. He made four starts in the U.K. before breaking through.
