Exciting
juvenile Hoss Amor earned a spell with a third stakes win in today's Listed
Centenary Classic (1400m) at Eagle Farm.
Prepared at Randwick by John O'Shea, Hoss Amor was awarded the win in the
Hampden Stakes last month before a second placing in The Phoenix Stakes and a
win last start in the Lancaster Stakes.
Today she let her class do the talking - jumping from an outside barrier and
then finding plenty after clearing away from her rivals in the home straight.
At the post she held a length and a quarter margin over Caliente and Saluter in
an all Magic Millions finish.
Connections of the General Nediym filly were not surprisingly delighted with
the impressive victory.
"The boss is away so he'll be very chuffed," stable representative
Helen Smith said.
"You know John, he's definitely always
watching."
"She's done absolutely
fantastic. She's so well behaved for a two-year-old - we've been very lucky to
have her."
Winning rider Chris Munce was also impressed with the performance of Hoss Amor
who jumped from barrier 11 in a field of 12 in the feature juvenile event.
"She was pretty courageous today," the runaway Brisbane Premiership
leader said.
"She dashed really quickly at the top of the corner and really sustained
it."
"She came out (of the barriers) pretty quiet and I just let her relax and
she took her time getting across," Munce added.
Hoss Amor(pictured as a yearling) , a filly by Magic Millions Classic winner General Nediym, was
purchased by the Champion Thoroughbreds team for $100,000 at last year's Magic
Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
The youngster was
bred and sold by the Liston family's Three Bridges Thoroughbreds operation in Victoria
and wisely Peter Liston retained a small interest.
From the family of recent Group One TJ Smith Stakes winning juvenile Sizzling,
Hoss Amor is one of two winners for her dam, the Melbourne winning Favorite
Trick mare With Love.
Successful at two, With Love is from the three time stakes winning juvenile
Loving Cup and is therefore a half sister to Cuphill - the dam of kiwi stakes
winner Celeris.
With Love is in foal to young Three Bridges Thoroughbreds based sire Stryker, whose first foals are due this spring.
As well as Sizzling, the family also includes accomplished stakes winners
Laudemio, Vintage Dance, Shy Hero, Pittance and Fullazz.
