Blue Sky Thoroughbred's Julian Blaxland scored a double on Wednesday with the wins of yearling purchases Sherocksmyworld at Canterbury and champion Hurdler Black and Bent at Warrnambool.
The two runners probably couldn't have been more different with Sherocksmyworld a 2yo filly by Fastnet Rock winning over 1100m for Gai Waterhouse and the seasoned 6yo hurdler winning another Galleywood for trainer Robert Smerdon.
Both runners were bought by Blaxland at the Magic Millions Sales, Sherocksmyworld at last year's January sale from Toolooganvale Stud for $200,000 and Black and Bent at the 2007 June Yearling Sale for $24,000 from South Australian based Summerset Park Stud.
A well bred filly, Sherocksmyworld (pictured as a yearling) is the first winner for Group III winner Solvini, who comes from the family of Group I winning mares Culminate, Captivate and Eileen Dubh.
"It's a nice day for the connections of both horses," commented Julian Blaxland.
"Gai is aiming the filly towards the TJ Smith in Brisbane which is exciting and Black and Bent, what can you say? He's a star over the jumps and is great for the sport."
The wins continue the good run Blaxland has had in the past fortnight with stakes horses Rekindled Alliance (3rd Gr.3 Frank Packer Plate) for Paul Messara, Better Be The One (2nd Gr.1 Lion City Cup (Sing)) for Michael Freedman and star 3yo Super Easy taking out the 2nd leg of the Singapore 3yo Challenge series (Gr.2 Singapore 3yo Classic) again for Freedman.
