First Stakes-Winner for Written Tycoon
Tara Madgwick - Wednesday, 2 May 2012

Young Eliza Park based sire Written Tycoon posted his first stakes-winner on Wednesday - OK, it was four days later than planned - but talented three year-old, Trump notched up a most deserved win in the Group III BRC Gunsynd Classic.

The Robert Heathcote trained chestnut was highly favoured to take out the Gunsynd on Saturday before a deluge washed out the meeting at the Farm, but the wait – in the end – was well and truly worth it.

Winning three and placing in three prior to today's outing, Trump has been knocking on the black type door for quite a while and was an impressive neck second in the Listed National Jockey Celebration Queensland Day at Doomben last time out.

In the Gunsynd, Trump (pictured as a yearling) was a fair way off the lead turning for home, but managed to weave a passage in the straight, hunting down and grabbing Goldslick on the wire.

It was a very impressive performance for the owners which include Eliza Park principal, Lee Fleming (who stands Trump's sire, Written Tycoon), along with Iskander.com and Suman Hedge who raced Written Tycoon.

Another of the part owners is Peter Davenport, who is no stranger to the winners' circle courtesy of his mighty sprinter, Hay List.

Lee Fleming not only has the added bonus of standing Trump's sire, Written Tycoon, at Eliza Park and reaping a share of the Gunsynd rewards, his Black Minnaloushe mare, Queenie, the dam of Trump is back in foal to Written Tycoon – hopefully with another Trump on the way!).

Written Tycoon is having another big season with no less than seven black type horses: the stakes placed pair of of Alezan Thunder and Andre Roo Hoo, plus his first croppers, Anelene, Gaps In Me Knees, Masthead and Prestigious Miss, all putting him within shouting distance of the Australian Second Season Sires' championship after taking out the First Season title in 2010/11.
