Another Oaks Filly for Mossman?

Media Release - Thursday April 24
Telepathic has been sending Group One signals to trainers Donna and Dean Logan for some time and they take a step closer to reality at Avondale on Friday.

The Mossman filly has made all the right moves in a brief career and her appearance in the Rating 85 Morgan Furniture Governor General's Cup will be her final start before she heads to Australia.

"After Avondale she'll go straight to Brisbane where the Queensland Oaks will be her main aim," Donna Logan said.

MossmanSuccess in the $A400,000 Group One classic at Eagle Farm on May 31 would crown a stellar season for the stable, which produced Rising Romance to win last weekend's Gr.1 Australian Oaks.

Telepathic collected a win and two placings from her first three starts and was then sidelined after she ran fifth in the Gr.2 Eight Carat Classic at Ellerslie on Boxing Day.

The Gerry Harvey-bred and owned three-year-old was an impressive winner over 1200 metres when she resumed at Ellerslie earlier this month and will step up to 1600m on Friday.

"It's short of her pet distance and we'll see the best of her when she gets over more ground, but she's capable of a nice mile in a relatively fresh state," Logan said.

"She's the sort of filly that can cope with wetter going as well and she's definitely got all the ability. We just have to manage her on a programme through to the Oaks."

Among her race rivals at Avondale is Shaune Ritchie's Gr.1 New Zealand Derby placegetter Glorious Lad. He is also Brisbane bound as is his stablemate Chop Chop, who shares a Queensland Oaks target with Telepathic. – NZ Racing Desk.

Footnote: Vinery Stud's Mossman is the sire of this season's New Zealand Oaks winner Miss Mossman.
