Talented Kiwi three-year-old Lady Cumquat has
returned to her Cambridge base after a solid third on a testing Heavy track in
the Group III Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) at Randwick last weekend.
"I thought her run was enormous," trainer Roger James said.
"She was hammered from both sides as they jumped and she probably should
have been four lengths closer in the running, and that four lengths could have
been very telling.
"Nash (Rawiller) reported that at the half-mile she hadn't even started to
travel and he thought she was no show, she was so hopeless in the ground. He
got on the tail of one at the 600m and came wide and her effort to finish third
was good.
"She's back home now and will be prepared for Brisbane all going
well."
By multiple Group I winning Danehill sire Duke of Marmalade (IRE), Lady Cumquat will contest the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) on May 3
before the Gr.2 Doomben Roses (2000m) on May 17 and Gr.1 Queensland Oaks
(2400m) at Eagle Farm on May 31. - NZ Racing Desk
