De Gaulle to Stand at Bombora Downs

Media Release - Tuesday May 1

De Gaulle – the half brother to recent Golden Slipper winner Estijaab, will stand this season at Bombora Downs on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.

Richard Anderson, owner of De Gaulle and managing director of the near-by 20-hectare thoroughbred breeding equine education facility Quilly Park is thrilled to have secured the arrangement with Bombora Downs.

"We are delighted to take this opportunity to work with Bombora Downs, they have all the services and facilities that a mare owner could possibly want."

De Gaulle with Richard Anderson and John PrattDe Gaulle stood at John Pratt's Brooker Park (near Warrigul, Vic) for his first season in 2017 covering a closed book of mares.

'John and I were looking at keeping De Gaulle privately but Estijaab's stunning performances this autumn has given us a tremendous opportunity to commercialise our stallion.' Anderson added.

Pratt, who is also a partner in De Galle has endorsed the deal to stand De Gaulle at Bombora Downs. "It's the ideal fit for De Gaulle with Bombora Downs being the main commercial stud farm in the region."

De Gaulle is a son of Exceed And Excel – one of Australia's best stallions and the most successful sire of juvenile stakes winners at stud whose latest yearlings have sold to up $1.2million.

"Everything about working with De Gaulle has been a pleasure" Pratt says proudly. "From dealing with Newgate and Magic Millions to De Gaulle's superb temperament. . "I expect his temperament must come from his dual Group 1-winning dam Response, as De Gaulle's half sister Estijaab became the first filly in Slipper history to lead all the way, and managed all this in her first preparation."

De Gaulle presents a serious opportunity for breeders to access high class bloodlines at a very reasonable price.

Anderson predicts De Gaulle will appeal to the many breed-to-race clients as well as those looking to sell his progeny given the horse's commercial position in the stallion market now.

De Galle will stand at a service fee of $5,500 inc GST.
