Winning Rupert's Seonee Keeps on Keeping On

Mark Smith - Saturday August 26

The 5yo Winning Rupert mare Seonee extended her winning sequence to four with a maiden stakes success in Saturday’s Listed Leon Macdonald Stakes (1400m) at Morphettville Parks.

Ridden by Jake Noonan for Patrick Payne, Seonee had a target in sight as the favourite See You In Heaven and the old marvel Savatoxl engaged in a stirring duel down the straight.

With the final shot, Seonee bounced to overpower the 4yo Divine Prophet mare See You In Heaven by a neck with the 8yo Kuroshio gelding Savatoxl a half-neck back in third.

With her maiden stakes win, Seonee advances her record to eight wins, two seconds and a third from 18 starts with earnings of $393,805.

Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park Stud, Seonee was an $80,000 purchase for Prime Thoroughbreds at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

is the best of two winners from three to race for the Not A Single Doubt mare Mowgli.

A half-sister to the champion Hong Kong sprinter Beat The Clock (Hinchinbrook), Mowgli was a $50,000 purchase for Bill Mitchell (FBAA) from the Newgate Farm draft at the 2017 National Broodmare Sale.

Mowgli has just produced a filly foal by Hellbent.

Seonee is the second stakes-winner for Grandview Stud’s Winning Rupert, who stands for $7,700 in 2023.
