Timely Win for Lady in Pink - Half-Sister at National Broodmare Sale

Mark Smith - Sunday May 21

The two-year-old Pariah filly Lady In Pink broke her maiden with authority in Sunday’s Ladbrokes Odds Surge Hcp (1200m) at Sandown-Lakeside providing a timely update for her half-sister catalogued for the National Broodmare Sale.

Ridden by Blake Shinn for Leon and Troy Corstens, Lady In Pink tracked the speed set by Within Sight and Optume before peeling out to the running line.

The daughter of Pariah was strong to the line in defeating the Pierro filly Optume by one-and-a-quarter lengths, with the Shamoline Warrior filly Within Sight a short neck back in third.

It was a deserved breakthrough for Lady In Pink at her fourth start and was most recently second to the promising Le Zebra on the Hillside track on May 6.

It was also a welcome change of luck for Oaklands Stud recruit Pariah, who had seconds with My Obsession (Flemington), Ostraka (Rosehill), and  Torque Espagna (Gold Coast) on Saturday.

A $160,000 purchase for Malua Bloodstock - Pink Race Series Horse Syndicate from the Arrowfield stud draft at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Lady In Pink is the third winner for the 5-time winning, stakes-placed Encosta De Lago mare Iron Lace.
