Encryption Colt Cifrado Wins G2 Spirit of Boom Classic

Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 13

Stakes-placed in his first preparation over the summer, talented Encryption colt Cifrado became the first stakes-winner for Eureka Stud’s young gun sire when scoring a thrilling last stride win in the $300,000 Group II BRC Spirit of Boom Classic (1200m) at Doomben in Saturday.

Trained by Rex Lipp at Toowoomba, Cifrado bolted in to win by five lengths at Ipswich when resuming from a spell and was a last start luckless third in the Listed BRC Dalrello Stakes.

Ridden quietly by Damien Thornton, Cifrado flashed home between horses to snatch a narrow win over I Am Invincible colt Armed Forces.

“He’s a colt that is on the way up and I think he will be a very good three year-old,” said Rex Lipp.

Cifrado will again be given the chance to measure up to Black Type company in coming weeks with the $1million Group II BRC Sires Produce Stakes and possibly the Group I JJ Atkins in his sights.

The most expensive yearling from the first crop of Lonhro’s brilliant Group II winning son Encryption, Cifrado was bought for $320,000 by Cliff Little at the Magic Millions January Sale from the Eureka Stud draft.

Cifrado was the most expensive yearling from the first crop of Encryption.

With two wins and three placings from six starts, Cifrado has won over $260,000 in prizemoney and is a half-brother to stakes-winner Miami Fleiss and stakes-placed Cochrane from Madame Fly, a half-sister to Group III winner Chapter and Verse.

Madame Fly passed away in 2021 and her last foal, a filly by Spirit of Boom, sold for $475,000 at Magic Millions this year to Yes Bloodstock.

Cifrado is the first stakes-winner for Eureka Stud’s Encryption, who has covered over 500 mares in his first four seasons and stands at a fee of $13,200.
