More Success for Into the Red

Tara Madgwick - Saturday June 25
Talented sprinter Into the Red posted his first Group win when taking out the Group III Tatts Healy Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Prepared by Kelso Wood, the five year-old son of Not a Single Doubt was injured last year resulting in a lengthy spell, but looked good when resuming with a win in the Listed BRC Bribie Handicap at Doomben at the end ofApril.

Fifth at his next run, Into the Red showed he was right back to his best with this tenacious half head win in the 1200 metre sprint.

Into the Red as a yearlingThe ligament injury he suffered last year may have been a blessing in disguise as it enabled the gelding to improve his mindset according to his trainer.

"It allowed him to mature mentally and he's turned into a lovely horse now," Kelso Wood said.

"The injury he had was always going to heal and he's only just starting to realise his potential."

A $100,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Goodwood Farm draft for John Foote Bloodstock, Into the Red has won five races and placed five times from 24 starts earning over $425,000.

A quintessential Not a Single Doubt type as you can see in his yearling image, he is the best of eight winners from Red Sequin, an unraced sister to stakes-winner Czar Hero, that died in 2014.
