A
three-quarter brother to globetrotting sprint star Buffering, two year-old gelding
Downloading became the seventh winner for Sun Stud's Love Conquers All when
saluting on debut at Doomben on Wednesday.
Trained by Robert Heathcote, as is $7.2 million earner Buffering, Downloading
was sent out favourite for the 1050 metre juvenile maiden and led throughout to
win by half a length.
"It's enormously satisfying to win first up with him," said a delighted
Heathcote.
"I liked the courage he showed up the running, so he has plenty of upside. I
didn't even think he'd be racing as a two year-old, I was thinking he was more of
an early three year-old.
"A lot of the Buffering owners are in him and while you don't normally think
lightning can strike twice, he has done a good job today."
A $75,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Robin Wise draft,
Downloading is the fifth winner from five foals to race from Anabaa (USA) mare
Action Annie, who has a weanling filly by Fastnet Rock.
A brilliant Group II winning son of Mossman, Love Conquers All has been a
popular pick with Queensland breeders covering big books of 184 and 181 mares
in his past two seasons, so whatever success he has achieved so far is likely
to magnify when these bigger foal crops come through.
Love Conquers All had yearlings sell for up to $190,000 this year and stands at
$13,750 this spring at Sun Stud in Queensland.
