As a three-quarter brother-in-blood to a Cox Plate winner there is a certain degree of anticipation when you make your debut and in this case it was a winning one at Cranbourne on Friday.

Three year-old Reset gelding Vantaggio gave his rivals a galloping lesson when bolting away to win the 1300 metre maiden by more than four lengths.

Prepared by Ciaron Maher, he was sent out favourite so has obviously been showing plenty prior to his first outing.

He travelled behind the leaders for Nicholas Hall and when angled back to the fence to make his run, dashed quickly when he saw clear ground to win as he pleased.

Retained by his breeder Bill Giovas to race in partnership, Vantaggio is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to ill-fated Cox Plate winner Pinker Pinker and is a full brother to stakes-placed Kapset.

Foaled at Riversdale Farm in the Hunter Valley, he is the third winner from four foals to race from Danehill Dancer (IRE) mare Kapala.

Kapala had a colt by Lonhro last spring and is in foal to Deep Field.
