The Group One Singapore Derby looms for the talented Zip a Dee Doo Dah who has been so impressive winning his last two at Kranji by wide margins.
Yet to finish out of the first four in seven starts, the Leslie Khoo trained four-year-old broke his maiden as a short priced favourite in early January and lost no fans with close up fourths at his next two outings, racing wide at the first of those and very strong late after getting a long way back at the second.
On April 3 he was back in winning form, sitting midfield in a 1900m contest, rushing at his rivals at the 300m and racing away to salute by 3 1/4 lengths with plenty in hand.
Up in class to 2000m on April 24 and he was a bit further back in the field this time, taking a split at the 300m before shooting clear from the 150m - quickly putting 2 1/4 lengths on his rivals as the caller declared "he's still green but he's good!"
"He is still learning but he was a lot more professional today," said jockey Alan Munro, noting that the bay had been inclined in the past to "sit back in the gates... but he is getting a lot better now."
Bred by Westbury Farm and sold to Singapore off the back of winning trial form, Zip a Dee Doo Dah is one of a run of recent winners for Moorookyle Park Thoroughbreds' well credentialled Encosta de Lago stallion Cecconi.
Considered one of David Hayes' best two-year-olds of the 2006/07 season, the Listed Blue Diamond Preview winner has never served big books but his progeny are in flying form.
His daughter Cantina overcame trouble in running to record an easy win at Canterbury on April 23, storming home from last to salute over 2000m.
On April 16 his consistent son Jimmy broke his maiden over 1400m at Canterbury - doing a good job from the outside gate - whilst earlier in the month his daughter Amarone flew late to claim her maiden in a 1400m event at Manawatu.
His promising three-year-old Moreira has also been in great form, proving too strong despite racing wide when taking out his maiden over 1400m at Canterbury before stepping up in class and finding the line in determined fashion after striking trouble in running to salute over 1400m at Canterbury.
Also in recent winning form is fellow three-year-old Music Maestro who bolted in with his maiden over 1400m at Waipukurau in late March.
Described as "an imposing stallion with a great deal of quality and presence," Cecconi is one of the great Encosta de Lago's 109 stakes winners, Cecconi is a son of the dual stakes winning Blazing Sword mare Tonicity from the family of Golden Slipper winning successful stallion Stratum.
Cecconi's 2016 fee is a great value $2200 (including gst). He stands alongside Ustinov ($4400), Widden Valley ($2200) and Rockaroundtheclock ($3300). For further information contact Nioka Wozny on 0427 456 385 or visit online at http://moorookylepark.com.au
