Currently
leading the Australian Second Season Sires List by earnings, exciting young
sire Hinchinbrook posted his fifth two year-old winner of the season when the
Robert Smerdon trained filly Alaskan Sun saluted on debut at Ballarat on
Tuesday.
Easy in the market, Alaskan Sun was restrained to settle back in the field by
Nick Hall, but when allowed to surge forward around the field on the home turn
quickly loomed into contention.
She powered to the line to win the 1100 metre juvenile maiden by a length and a
half in a most encouraging display.
Alaskan Sun was an $85,000 Inglis Premier purchase for James Bester Bloodstock
from the Yarraman Park draft and is the third winner from three to race out of
Anabaa (USA) mare Shine on Anna, who comes from the family of multiple Group I
winner Contributer (IRE).
Yarraman Park sold the current yearling from Shine on Anna, a filly by Magic
Albert, for $50,000 at the recent Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Hinchinbrook has a big draft of 26 for the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale
starting this Saturday, click
