Half-Brother to Telepathic for Karaka

Media Release - Monday November 30

Kiwi-bred Telepathic(NZ) (Mossman) turned up the pace with victory in the A$100,000 Listed Tyreel Stud ATC Cup (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

TelepathicTelepathic has a half-brother by Postponed entered in the Karaka 2016 Select Sale atLot 626from Westbury Stud.

From the in-form stable of kiwi ex-pat Chris Waller, this is Telepathic's sixth win from 20 starts having placed on a further seven occasions. A winner two weeks ago at Rosehill Gardens, this was her first stakes win after being narrowly defeated in the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate during last year's Brisbane Winter Carnival.

Telepathic heads towards the Group 2 Villiers Stakes at Randwick on 12 December.

"She is probably a little bit vulnerable at the 2000 metres, but she has the turn of foot to win," commented Waller. "I would think dropping her back to the Randwick mile would really suit her.

"We have done it before with some success. She is probably more of a miler that can stretch out to this trip and I think she will love getting to the big track."

Paired with successful kiwi jockey James McDonald, Telepathic entered as race-favourite, commencing from barrier 3 to settle mid-field at a steady tempo.

McDonald gave her a wide berth on the home turn and went to the lead inside 200m with a powerful turn of foot to win by one-and-three-quarter-lengths over runner-upLucky Lucky Lucky(Lucky Owners) with fellow Karaka graduateVilanova(NZ) (Commands) in third.

"Bringing horses back from 2000m to a mile has worked for us in the past, but the time frame is tighter here. That will be her hard gallop for it and she will have a quieter time in the next couple of weeks."

The Group 2 Villiers Stakes is scheduled to run at Randwick on Saturday 12 December.

Bred and raced by Gerry Harvey, the five-year-old mare has amassed A$223,859 in prizemoney. She was offered at the 2012 National Yearling Sales Series.

The daughter of Mossman is out of Telepathy (Conatus) who is a half-sister to stakes placegetter Come on Cugat (King Cugat). Telepathic is from the same family as Group 1 winners Bonanova (Star Way), Fraternity (Star Way) and Telesto (Star Way).

New Zealand Bloodstock's National Yearling Sales Series will take place on 25 January – 31 January. ThePremier,SelectandFestivalcatalogues are available online now or can be requested fromwww.reception@nzb.co.nz.
