Under-rated
Redoute's Choice stallion God's Own added a seventh stakes-winner to his tally
when improving five year-old By The Grace took out the Listed Balaklava Cup on
Wednesday.
Prepared at Caulfield by Andrew Noblet, By The Grace overcame a wide gate to
zoom home and win the $100,000 1600 metre feature by more than a length to
score the biggest win of his career.
By The Grace has won five races and placed five times from 22 starts earning
over $314,000 in prizemoney.
He's proven a great investment, having been bought by his trainer from the
Cornerstone Stud draft at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale for $40,000.
By The Grace is the best of five winners from Group II winner Rain Dance Lady,
who was covered again by God's Own last spring.
A Group I winner of the MRC Caulfield Guineas in 2005, God's Own went to stud in
Victoria with a high degree of expectation and stood for over $30,000 in his
first four seasons at stud.
The much hoped for commercial success failed to materialise for God's Own and
he now stands at Greta West Stud at a fee of $4,400.
