First Three Year Old Winner for Rothesay

Tara Madgwick - Sunday August 2
Only two days after comfortably taking out the title of Australia's Leading First Season Sire by winners, the "Rothesay roll" continued when the young stallion kicked off his first crop of 3YO's with an ultra-impressive victor in Grecian Summer.

Grecian SummerMaking her debut in the 3YO QTIS handicap over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast, the Bryan Guy trained daughter of Rothesay never put a foot wrong as she camped just off the speed and then powered to the line with plenty in reserve to win convincingly.

Guy not only has the honour of training Rothesay's first 3YO winner, he also trained his last 2YO winner of the season in Fogoso on Friday.

In fact, Guy has trained an incredible 4 Glenlogan Park-bred winners in the space of just 3 days after a winning double at the Gold Coast on Saturday, with Go Better (Show A Heart) and I'm Alone (Jet Spur), was sandwiched in between the dual Rothesay-winning double.

"We came to the races here today pretty confident and thought it would only be bad luck that beat her," Guy said after Grecian Summer's impressive debut.

"She trialled enormous and Luke Rolls got off and said that she would be winning no matter where we started her, so it was good to see her bring that promise to the racetrack on game day.

"I will see how she comes through the run but with filly's like this they can keep taking big steps and in the back of our minds we will plan towards putting some prizemoney in the bank and then hopefully heading towards the 3YO Magic Millions Guineas."

Grecian Summer now joins Shotacross The Bow and Jacksay as progeny of Rothesay with their eyes on gaining a start in the big $2 million 3YO Race on Magic Millions day.

Rothesay is standing this season at Glenlogan at just $10,000 plus GST.
