Now under the Darley banner, things are beginning to look up for Swishes at stud.
Her first four foals to get to the track are all winners but her latest may well be her best.
Sporting the royal blue Godolphin silks, the John O'Shea-trained gelding Demonstrate won his second race from seven starts when successful in Saturday's 1Print Handicap (1000m) at Moonee Valley.
Given a gun ride by Graig Newitt, the son of New Approach (IRE) held off the fast finishing Star Planet (Lonhro) by a short-head with the pacesetting Top Me Up (Reward For Effort) a further two lengths back in third.
Stable representative David Charles said a drop back in distance proved the winning formula.
"John thought he overraced a fraction down the straight over 1200m and got a bit lost," Charles said.
"Around a turn and a different tempo it worked out perfectly.
"It was a combination of a horse with a bit of talent and a very good ride from Craig helped us get there today."
Charles said there are no grand plans for Demonstrate.
"It was fantastic to see him win today for us so now it's onwards and upwards," Charles said.
"He shapes as though he might get up to a mile but we're just very happy to get the win today."
Demonstrate's dam Swishes is a half-sister to that grand old warrior Le Zagaletta (Last Tycoon) who's nine stakes wins included three at Group II level while amassing $1.3 million.
Their Group III winning dam Swiftsynd (Swift Gun) was one of three winners out of the Gunsynd mare Candysynd.
After four season shuttling to Victoria, New Approach (IRE) did not return after the 2012 season however Darley launched the career of his best son, 4-time Group 1 winner Dawn Approach (IRE) last season.
