Exciting
young sire I Am Invincible cracked $3million in season earnings on Wednesday with
a pair of slick winners in Desert Man and Illustrious Lad.
The Gillian Heinrich trained two year-old colt Desert Man did a demolition job
on a hapless field of overmatched juveniles at the Gold Coast.
Sent out favourite he gave them all a galloping lesson, clearing out to win the
1200 metre maiden by nearly six lengths at his second start.
A $160,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Mane Lodge draft, Desert Man is a
full brother to ill-fated filly I Am Snippety, who won the Wellington Boot and
was fourth in the Listed Canberra Black Opal Stakes winning over $100,000
before her tragic death after just seven starts.
Desert Man is the third winner for Snippety Day, who is due to foal again to I
Am Invincible this spring.
Desert Man is the tenth two year-old winner this season for I Am Invincible,
who is equal with Not a Single Doubt on the two year-old sires by winners list
behind only Snitzel (13) and Exceed and Excel (12).
Making it a double for I Am Invincible was speedy three year-old gelding
Illustrious Lad, who posted his third when saluting at Geelong for Peter
Gelagotis.
A $40,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft, Illustrious Lad
has won over $65,000 in prizemoney.
I Am Invincible stands this season at Yarraman Park at the increased fee of $55,000, while his
dual Group I winning son Brazen Beau, has been set at $44,000 for his debut
season by Darley Victoria.
