Mr Manhattan Salutes in Town

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 29
A half-brother to smart mare Dublin Lass, promising Manhattan Rain three year-old Mr Manhattan made it two wins from three starts when scoring at Canterbury on Wednesday giving the team at Luskin Park reason to celebrate.

Mr Manhattan as a yearlingPrepared by Joe Pride, Mr Manhattan won on debut at Gosford back in December and then was second at Warwick Farm when resuming from a spell earlier this month.

Sent out favourite for the Benchmark 70 event over 1250 metres, he got the job done in style scoring by a length and looks to have a bright future.

Mr Manhattan was passed in shy of his $100,000 reserve when consigned to Inglis Easter by Luskin Park and runs for a big syndicate that includes his breeders Wilf Mula and Paul Whelan.

Dublin Lass and Mr Manhattan are the first and second foals of lightly raced Elusive Quality (USA) mare Fashion Police, a grand-daughter of Group II winner Fine Recipe from the family of Group I VATC Blue Diamond winner Midnight Fever and Group I VRC Australian Guineas winner Rock Classic, who was also bred and sold by Luskin Park.

"Fashion Police is off to a flying start at stud with Dublin Lass now looking to target some Black Type races and Mr Manhattan a progressive horse set to work through the grades," said Paul Whelan.

"There is some chance they may both end up in Queensland over the next month or so, which would be lovely to see."

The current yearling from Fashion Police is a colt by Starcraft that made $200,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when bought by Hawkes Racing.

Fashion Police is now in foal to another of the Arrowfield sires in Snitzel.
