No Golden Slipper Stakes for Pride Of Dubai

Darryl Sherer - Monday March 2
There will no Golden Slipper start for last Saturday's Group I Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) winner Pride Of Dubai.

Trainer Peter Snowden, who prepares the son of Street Cry in partnership with son Paul, paid the $55,000 late nomination fee to run in the Blue Diamond but said the same process for the Golden Slipper would not be happening.

"One mistake is enough but two is worse," Snowden told RSN.

"It's not the late fee, it's more he reached his grand final on Saturday.

"To me it's too much to ask a horse to back up in three weeks time. To bring him back up again would be too arduous."

Snowden believes the tempo of the Golden Slipper would be another mitigating factor against Pride Of Dubai being at his best and is aiming at a race over further.

"I think the speed would be too solid. He can't get going quick enough and I would think 1400 (metres) or a mile would suit him better," Snowden said.

"With that in mind I would think the (ATC) Sires' (Produce) will suit much better. It's five weeks away and he'll be better at Randwick."
