The Written Tycoon bandwagon rolled on to Caulfield on
Saturday with the progressive Tycoon Tara scoring a brave win $150,000 Group
III Premier Signs (Mannerism) Stakes (1400m).
Woodside Park stallion Written Tycoon enjoyed a memorable
February with five black-type winners so it seemed fitting that the final
metropolitan race in Sydney for the month should fall to Lee Curtis' talented filly Press
Report at Warwick Farm.
Tycoon Tara has certainly played her part in Written Tycoon's
success.
At her previous start she won the Group III Geoffrey
Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) victory at Caulfield on February 14.
It didn't come easy for Tycoon Tara in the Mannerism.
Ben Melham was caught four and five wide early and elected
to press on and take up the running.
She was sitting shot for all challengers in the straight but defied them all.
Starcraft mare Choose came closest a neck back from the
winner with Street Allure (Street Boss) three-quarters of a length back in
third.
Tycoon Tara moves her overall record to 5 wins, 2 seconds
and 1 third from 10 starts for earnings of $277,670.
The winner of a benchmark 64 at Dunkfeld back in November,
the 4yo mare continues to amaze trainer Symon Wilde.
"The progression of this horse in one preparation is
quite astonishing really," Wilde said.
"We always knew she had good talent but today she stamped
herself as a good mare.
"I was really impressed with her because not a lot went
right and she was still able to win.
"She was up in weight and had the outside gate and was
caught wide for a while."
Tycoon Tara is the third and penultimate foal of the 4-time
winner Mosstara (Encores) who died in November.
You need to go back four generations in Tycoon's Tara's
pedigree to find the previous stakes-winner.
Fourth dam Julie Kate was a duel stakes winner in North
America and she produced the Selene Stakes winner Kate's Intent the dam of Group 1 King Stand Stakes winner Godswalk one of
the original shuttle stallions.
Her final foal is a yearling colt by Magic Albert's Group 1
winning son Ilovethiscity.
