Another Debut Winner for Beneteau

Tara Madgwick - Thursday February 26
The loss of ill-fated Redoute's Choice son Beneteau was again highlighted on Thursday when he posted his sixth individual winner after Eclat got the cash on debut at Ballarat.

Eclat as a yearlingPrepared by Mick Price, Eclat drew 11 in the field of 12 but was still too good in taking the 1100 metre maiden by half a head.

A $65,000 Magic Millions purchase for her trainer from the Rosemont Stud draft, Eclat is a half-sister to Group II placed Moreau from Francophile, an unraced French Deputy mare from the family of champion racehorses Arazi and Noverre.

Eclat was a successful pinhook having been bought as a weanling for $32,000 from the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

Eclat is the sixth winner for Beneteau, who stood at Arrowfield Stud before his premature death in 2012 after covering for just two seasons at a fee of $11,000.

Beneteau had just 49 foals born in his second crop so opportunities to secure his stock are fast running out with just one yearling by him to be offered at Inglis Premier starting on Sunday. Click here to find out more about The Lone Beneteau.
