Looking for Another Peggy Jean?

Tara Madgwick - Sunday February 1
The Inglis Classic Yearling Sale is a proven treasure trove of bargain priced Group I stars with last year's Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes winner Peggy Jean a prime example, so let's see what her vendor Torryburn Stud has to offer this year with the 2015 sale starting next Sunday February 8.

Peggy JeanSnaffled for $46,000 by Triple Crown Syndications, the Gerald Ryan trained Peggy Jean won the $250,000 Inglis Classic race last year and then confirmed her class with a memorable win in the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes.

Her big group of delighted owners have lived the 'Classic' dream, their star filly earning over $900,000 in prizemoney and it is stories like this that keep buyers coming back to Newmarket in January for arguably the best value yearling sale of the year.

Torryburn Stud will offer 12 yearlings by Beneteau, Charge Forward, Denman, Duporth (2), Hinchinbrook, Love Conquers All, Magic Albert, Mossman, Snitzel (2) and Wanted.

Below are some of the highlights from a quality draft as selected by Stud Manager Reggie Blundell. Click here to see the full draft.

Lot 199 Filly Love Conquers All x Lekhani (IRE) – Half-sister to two winners from a half-sister to Group I winner and sire Myboycharlie (IRE).

This filly is one of my favourites and exerts a lot of qualities I found in Peggy Jean (by Myboycharlie) when I picked her out as a weanling.

This filly walks with a purpose, has a great head on her and is going to continue to grow into a lovely horse. She is one to mark in your book!

Lot 196 Colt Charge Forward x Le Sillage – Fourth foal of good metro winning Encosta de Lago mare from the family of Group I star Brazen Beau, bought from Inglis Classic in 2013.

This colt will appeal to a lot of buyers as he is very strong and balanced from the shoulder to his hind quarter.

We took his half-brother to this sale last year who was by Excellent Art and we sold him for $62,000. The colt then went through the NZ Ready to run sale and sold for $185,000 so a super outcome there.

Lot 344 Colt Snitzel x Ready To Live (USA) – From US SW Ready to Live, a half-sister to the dam of US Group I winner Itsmyluckyday.

Well you can't say Snitzel's progeny are not performing on the track! This colt is out of a More Than Ready mare so the cross with Snitzel is a proven line that is continuing to work. One to also mark in your book.

Lot 536 Colt Hinchinbrook x Awards – Young sires is doing a great job and dam has three foals to race all winners and she is a grand-daughter of NZ Filly of the Year Tri Belle.

I love this colt on type, he has continued to improve in his preparation so I would anticipate he will only get better as he continues to grow and develop.

Lot 160 Filly Beneateau x Jazzy General – From the second and final crop of ill-fated Beneteau, the current leading first season sire by winners and earnings.

This filly is another yearling that has continues to impress me in her preparation, she is by a sire that is throwing winners every week. A very classy filly.
