The
Black Caviar family was responsible for our One to Watch from Sale a couple of
weeks ago when three year-old filly Sistonic blitzed her rivals on debut and
she remained unbeaten after scoring at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
A full sister to stakes-winner Iconic and three-quarter sister-in-blood to
Black Caviar, the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained daughter of Bel Esprit saluted
by the best part of a length over 1200 metres as a short priced favourite after
leading throughout.
A homebred for Dorrington Farm's Robert Crabtree, Sistonic is the fifth winner
from five to race from Danavia, a placed three-quarter sister by Danehill to
Group I winner Magnus, Group II winners Wilander and Scandiva and stakes-winner
Arctic Flight.
Another sibling to Danavia is Helsinge, the dam of superstars Black Caviar and
All Too Hard.
Sistonic is the last foal of Danavia, who died in 2011.
She will be looking to gain Black Type in the autumn and if what we saw tonight
is any indication Sistonic might be well up to the task.
