Promising stayer Atmosphere has run his last
race for Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young.
The three-year-old son of Savabeel has been sold to Hong Kong interests and
will further his career from John Moore's stable.
"The owner is a younger guy like me and the money offered was too good to knock
back," Busuttin said.
A $140,000 Karaka purchase for Singapore-based trainer Shane Baertschiger,
Atmosphere was identified early on as a Melbourne spring carnival prospect by
Busuttin and Young.
The Savabeel three-year-old finished second in the Listed UCI Stakes at
Flemington at his third appearance and was again runner-up in the Gr.2 Vase at
Moonee Valley before he was unplaced in the Gr.1 VRC Derby.
"He's another good stakes horse gone from the stable," Busuttin said. "We've
got 24 in work and eight of them are unraced two and three-year-olds by
Savabeel so I wonder how many of them we can keep."
Another potential black type three-year-old in the stable is the debut winner
Smarts Encosta and he too might joining the overseas exodus.
He is an acceptor for Saturday's Listed Trevor Eagle Memorial at Ellerslie, but
is also under offer.
"He's been vetted and if he's scratched you'll know why," Busuttin said.
The stable did secure a promising replacement at the recent Ready to Run Sale
at Karaka where they purchased a son of Encosta de Lago out of the former
talented performer Hidden Strings for $150,000.
"He's a lovely colt out of a Group Two-winning mare and we'll be syndicating
him," Busuttin said. – NZ Racing Desk.
