A $45,000 purchase by his trainer from the Dawson Stud draft at the 2014 Magic Millions Perth Yearling sale, Chanzig finished fast to defeat the Snatch 'n' Grab (Vital Equine (IRE)) by three-quarters of a length with Senso (Street Sense) back in third.
Pearce said he has a few War Chants on the books.
"I've got one related to Vampi Lass, which is in today, and he looks a nice horse as well," Pearce said.
"They sold well at the sales this year and I've heard good reports on them."
Chanzig (pictured as a yearling) is the fourth foal of the King Ivor mare Fairy Fix a half-sister to Madam Curie the dam of Group II Reisling Stakes winner and group 1 Golden Slipper runner-up Pure Energy (Mossman) and Group II Schilaci Stakes winner and Group 1 Oakleigh Plate runner-up Segments (Mossman).
Fairy Fix has a yearling filly by War Chant (USA) and was not covered last year.
War Chant shuttled to Yarradale Stud from Three Chimney's Farm in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and earlier this year it was announced he would be a permanent Australian resident.
The royally-bred son of Danzig won 5 of his 7 starts including the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Mile on Turf.
He stands at Yarradale Stud at a fee of $17,600.
