Declaration of War Headed to US

Tara Madgwick - Thursday October 23
After completing his first season at stud with a stint at Coolmore Ireland earlier this year followed by a term in Australia at Jerry's Plains, high class War Front son Declaration of War (USA) will be headed to the US in 2015.

Declaration of WarA dual Group I winner, Declaration of War covered 172 mares in Ireland and is busy covering a top quality book here at a fee of $27,500.

Making the announcement, Ashford Stud manager Dermot Ryan said: "Declaration Of War has an incredibly similar profile to Giant's Causeway, who also joined us after standing a single season in Ireland.

"Both were unbeaten at two, both won some of Britain's key Group 1 races over a mile and a mile and a quarter and both ran incredible races on their first starts on traditional dirt in the Breeders' Cup Classic.

"And then of course they're both by top sires out of daughters of Rahy from great US families. Bred by Joe Allen in whose colours he ran, Declaration Of War was one of the best yearlings ever raised here on the farm and we're delighted to be getting him back."

Declaration of War's sire War Front stands at Claiborne Farm in Kentucky, his fee for 2015 remaining at $150,000.
