David
and Jenny Moodie's Contract Racing have a very successful breeding program and
one of their star producers is Group III winner Razor Blade, who is the dam of
a very smart Medaglia D'Oro (USA) winner at Moe on Thursday.
Three year-old gelding Durandel was an unlucky fourth on debut at Bendigo
earlier this month, but showed the benefit of that run when scoring easily by two
and a half lengths in the 1200 metre maiden as favourite.
Trained by Matt Ellerton and Simon Zahra, Durandel is a half-brother to Group
II winner Sunburnt Land, Group III winner Flamberge and stakes-winner Curtana
being the sixth winner from seven to race for Razor Blade.
Razor Blade has foaled this spring producing a colt by Caulfield Guineas winner
Helmet.
Durandel is the seventh Australian winner since the start of the new season for
Darley's high profile shuttler Medaglia D'Oro, who leads the second season
sires division by earnings.
