Weekend Stakes Double for Showcasing

Media Release - Monday September 22

Haunui Farm stallion Showcasing (GB) (Oasis Dream) is going from strength to strength in the Northern Hemisphere with his first crop providing a stakes winning double over the weekend.

Accipiter (GB) landed her first stakes success when toughing it out to take the Listed Harry Rosebery Stakes over 5f at Ayr on Friday whilst Toocoolforschool (Ire) made all of the running in the Group Two Mill Reef Stakes over 6f at Newbury with an impressive and commanding seven-length win.

ShowcasingAmong the leading First Season Sires of Europe for some time, the weekend results see Showcasing back at the top of Europe's Freshman Sire's list while he maintains his lead as the leading Freshman sire of Great Britain and Ireland.

Haunui Farm's Mark Chitty says, "I'd like to wake up to those kind of results every weekend! Showcasing now has three stakes winners and the way in which Toocoolforschool dealt to that field was quite impressive. It's certainly great to get stakes winners but, what really excites me about Showcasing is the quality of his stock. He now has 16 two-year-olds rated 80 or better and Toocoolforschool has now been rated at 116 which is higher than Dick Whittington who is a Group One-winner."

With 20 winners from 47 starters to date, Showcasing has a winners to runners ratio of 42.55% in Europe whilst in Great Britain and Ireland, he has 19 winners from 42 runners which equates to 45%.

"Showcasing is a very exciting stallion prospect for New Zealand given that he is 50% owned here. When we sourced the horse through Michael Wallace and Badgers Bloodstock, we purchased a 50% share in him and syndicated him among some of New Zealand's leading studs and breeders," says Mark.

Another factor to keep in mind is the quality of Showcasing's pedigree which was further enhanced this past weekend when close relation Foreteller (GB) (Dansili) won the Group One Underwood Stakes (1800m) and with former NZB Filly of the Year, Fix winning her season debut, the likelihood his pedigree will see further success in the Southern Hemisphere is high.

"If he can start off half as well here in the South as he has in the North, we are in for an exciting ride," says Mark.

Showcasing is currently serving his fourth book of mares at Haunui Farm in 2014 for a fee of $7,500 + GST. Call Mark - 021 663 995 - or Shannon - 0212 855 513 - for more information.
