NZB Ready to Run Boost

Media Release - Monday September 22
The catalogue for New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale was released on Friday and over the weekend the Sale received a boost with  Faaltless (Faltaat) winning the Sgp-3 S$200,000 Garden City Trophy (1200m) in Singapore on Sunday.

The NZ$160,000 Ready to Run Sale graduate is forming an impressive record, winning five of his eight career starts for trainer Shane Baertschiger.

Entering the race fresh up since March when finishing behind champion three-year-old War Affair (NZ) (O'Reilly), Faaltless was full of running at the end of his race as he romped to a 2.5 length victory in track record time of 1:08.74.

"He was first up for four months yesterday, he was unbeaten in his two other campaigns first up," commented Baertschiger. "I was happy with him going into the race and he won convincingly and smashed the track record."

Having his first run as a four-year-old, Faaltless enjoyed an economical run behind the leaders for rider Danny Beasley. Switching across heels in the straight, the son of Faltaat hit the front at the 200m and drew away from his more fancied rivals to claim victory impressively over Emperor Max (Holy Roman Emperor) with fellow Ready to Run Sale graduate Cavallo (NZ) (Testa Rossa) in third.

"He has only had eight starts and will only have two more starts this campaign," said Baertschiger. "I want to have him go into the Lion City Cup (Singapore Group 1) first up in April then go to the Group 1 International Kris Flyer Sprint in May.

"He is an exciting horse so we will just keep looking after him, I don't want to race the guts out of him. His next race will be a trophy race in five weeks' time.

"I purchased him at the Ready to Run Sale, I didn't have him marked on his Breeze Up but someone else was looking at him and I caught him out of the corner of my eye. He was a beautiful individual so I had a look at him and ended up bidding on him."

The victory takes Faaltless' earnings to S$304,658 for his owners the MA Racing Stable from his five wins.

Bred by Watson Bloodstock Ltd, Faaltless is out of Circus Dance (Carnegie) who is a half-sister to champion racehorse So You Think, a ten-time Group 1 winner. Their dam is the Group 2 winner Triassic (Tights).

Baertschiger purchased Faaltless for NZ$160,000 from the 2012 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale from Clunbury Stables. He was a successful pinhook having being purchased earlier in 2012 by Trent Busuttin for $65,000 at the Karaka Select Sale from Westbury Stud.
