In her first preparation earlier this year the daughter of Street Cry (IRE) placed at Newcastle and Warwick Farm before earning a spell when fourth over 1600 metres at Newcastle.
It seems to have done the trick
Breaking her maiden with a three and a quarter length romp at Wyong on August 31, Entertains made it two in a row when coming from midfield early before Kerrin McEvoy took up a more forward position when the pace slowed midrace.
She was strong to the line defeating the Anthony Cummings-trained Barge And Charge (Stratum) by a neck with the Stephen Farley-trained White Devon (Clangalang) a half-head back in third.
"They went really steady and she was resenting me hanging on to her," McEvoy said.
"I was happy to stride forward and get into a rhythm, knowing that she had the win under the belt and was going to enjoy the 1400 (metres)."
The daughter of the recently deceased Darley stallion Street Cry (IRE), Entertains is the second foal of the Stravinsky (USA) mare Serenade Rose whose eight wins from 19 starts and $1,773,635 in earnings included wins in the AJC Australian Oaks, VRC Oaks and Arrowfield Stud Stakes.
A $400,000 Easter Yearling, Serenade Rose was purchased by Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud at the conclusion of her race career.
Tragically, Serenade Rose died in 2011 a day after producing her third foal Minnesinger (Lonhro) who finished fourth at Mornington in March at his career debut.
The first foal of Serenade Rose, Outdoor (Redoute's Choice), won three of her 14 starts before being covered by Street Cry (IRE) last October.
