Another Star for Eight Carat Family?

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 20
With two wins in as many starts promising Tavistock three year-old Diamond Valores may write a new chapter of success for the mega-successful Eight Carat (GB) family.

TavistockHaving his second start for Peter and Paul Snowden at Canterbury on Wednesday, the big bay gelding settled back off the pace before charging home to win the 1550 metre event by three lengths.

"He's still new, but has talent and is a nice horse in the making," said Peter Snowden.

"We won't be setting the bar too high for him just yet. I see him as an autumn horse more than a spring horse."

A $130,000 NZB Premier purchase for John O'Shea Racing from the Cambridge Stud draft, Diamond Valores runs for a partnership headed by Ron Finemore.

A Cambridge Stud bred through and through, he is by the stud's young dual Group I winning Montjeu stallion Tavistock from Special Diamond, an unraced sister Zabeel sibling to Group I winners Don Eduardo and Tristalove.

This is the Diamond Lover branch of the Eight Carat family that has also produced Group I winners Viscount, De Beers and Viking Ruler. Click here to see his pedigree for those that would like to take a look at one of the great families.
