The
2014 Breednet Foal Gallery is now open for business showcasing all the beautiful
thoroughbred babies to be born this spring - from the famous to the less famous,
but just as much loved – and once again the gallery is being sponsored by a
young stallion whose first foals are highly anticipated.
Coolmore based Excelebration (IRE) is the highest rated son of champion sire Exceed
and Excel at stud and after covering 109 mares last spring we can expect to see
plenty of his first Australian foals.
Sebring/Northern Meteor, Duporth, Hinchinbrook and Foxwedge are all past
sponsors of the Breednet Foal Gallery and we've seen how well their progeny
have been received so far, so Excelebration has big shoes to fill!
2014 promises to be an exciting foaling season for any number of reasons and
while the first foals for champion mares Black Caviar and More Joyous are
probably the big bangers most are keen to see, there is just as much anticipation
surrounding the ongoing stoush between Pierro and All Too Hard.
These two powerhouse colts were bitter racetrack rivals and now they are taking
that rivalry into the breeding barn where Pierro will do battle for Coolmore,
while All Too Hard calls the shots from Vinery.
Golden Slipper winner Pierro covered 199 mares last year at a fee of $77,000,
while Caulfield Guineas hero All Too Hard covered 176 mares at a fee of
$66,000.
Their progeny will be a talking point right throughout the season.
Will they stamp their stock? Will breeders like what they see from two of the
most highly rated stallion prospects that have gone to stud here in recent years.
